I purchased a cellphone for my daughter 2 years ago and requested that an airtime cap be put on her contract. This cap was for R250. The salesman typed on his computer and confirmed that her airtime had a cap of R250, NO FORMS WERE PROVIDED TO CONFIRM THIS. 6 months later I received a bill of R6000 from Vodacom for her airtime. I visited the store where I had capped it and complained, they asked for the contract I had signed which stated I capped her airtime but I did not ever receive one, or knew I needed one. The manager said that he could not do anything about it as I had no proof I had capped the cellphones airtime and just had to pay. I was extremely angry that I had to pay this ridiculous amount when I was promised her airtime would be cut off after she exceeded R250. Vodacom was absolutely no help at all with this issue but I had no leverage as the salesman that helped me did not supply me with a contract to sign, I was tempted to take legal action.
