Telkom downtime with no warning

My telephone has been down since Saturday. The call center informed me that Telkom was working on the exchange. I phoned again today only to be told that they are upgrading from copper to fiber, and for the duration of the upgrade I will have no service. They cannot give an ETA.
I accept that upgrades need to happen and that downtime will occur. What I do not accept is that this is clearly scheduled maintenance, and there was no warning or communication from Telkom that this would be happening.
