Mtn
2 months to cancel a contract... and counting

Telecommunications

I signed up for an MTN topup contract in June 2013, the deal included a Samsung galaxy Pocket and a Samsung 32inch tv. I submitted all required documentation and received the phone, problem was the television, the tv license I submitted was deemed to be invalid (despite verifying its validity at SABC) and therefore cud not get the tv. After nearly 4 weeks of this up and down, I decided to return the handset to MTN Cresta where I had opened the contract, went and purchased a television set from a furniture store with the so-called invalid license and requested to cancel the contract. As per terms of my contract I had to give 20 business days notice of cancellation, which I did on the 10th of July. The handset was accepted at the branch, subject to checks of wear and tear and it was accepted in good order as confirmed a week later.
However, since then, I have been visiting the Cresta branch as well as calling the Retentions department. I have been ferried between the two for the past 2 months. Retentions state that they require a letter from Cresta to show I didn't get the tv, Cresta say they sent the letter but no response from Retentions. My account continues to be debited.
