Try cancelling your Vodacom Contract!!!

Due to the noncompetitive deals from Vodacom these past few monhts, I found myself considering moving service providers after my 2 year contract ran its course. In contacting the nearest Vodashop, they advised me to call their "Cancellations Department" on 082-1958, as this, according to them, was the only way that I could give notice to cancel/stop my contract. I have literally been on the phone every day, phoning the number provided. I am told by a telephone bot to hold on, because the lines are busy and that they will be with me soon. This auto message plays in between, some repetitive music, probably hoping that this will serve as some relevant entertainment. No one answers!! After about 30-40 minutes, I just give up!! Why cant I not cancel on-line, or fill in a form at my nearest Vodashop!!? Surely in this day and age, I do not have to sacrifice productive time, waiting for someone to answer my call!!?? Why only this method of cancelling? Or is Vodacom merely blocking/preventing their clients, who actually intend cancelling, by frustrating the process? Or has the whole country decided to cancel their contracts with Vodacom... because the lines are really so busy? hogged?
