My so-called unrepairable phone!!!

Took my 10 month old BB 9320 into Vodaworld on 17/08 as the tracker wheel wasn't working. Get offered a loan unit - with only mess/voice services. Maybe i should've been told i'd not get a phone with similar functionality when i signed my contract. Receive call to say it is water damaged (not sure how that was possible) and not fixable. Guy at BB had suggested that the TW often gets dust in and then stops working. Offered a "refurbished" unit, no battery, charger / USB cable for R200 less than a new phone.!!! REALLY? Decline the offer. Collect my unfixed phone yesterday and tracker wheel works just fine but now won't stop taking photos and the keypad doesn't work. How is this possible? If it was water damage that caused the tracker wheel to stop working why is it working now (when that was unfixable?) and other things aren't? I'm sure someone was hoping i'd not want it back and they could make some more money off of another unsuspecting person by selling my phone off as a "refurbished" unit - with no accessories, because i've got those! Oh, and why bother sending out an SMS asking if i'm happy with the service? I replied "no" and no-one bothers to contact me!!!
