Upgrade- Failure to notify of downgrade charge

I went to MTN The Glen (20/01/2013) to do an early upgrade which i qualify for (original contract expires in May 2013). So i selected the phone i wanted and the package i wanted and everything was processed and the invoice issued. Only for the lady helping to realise there's a charge of R1000 i am liable for as i was previously on a top up 350 contract and was now taking a top up 200. I told her i should have been informed of this charge prior to processing, she apologised and attempted to reverse the transaction. The following day is i received airtime of R200 instead of R350 of preevious contract. (granted the reversal may take few days) but then i receive a statement indicating an invoice of amount of R1580.90 and Thuli told me she'l only request a credit for a R1000 (the downgrade amount per her system). She told me to call 808 to enquire about the difference and they sent me back to her & isnt helpful. I am not paying this money as i still have my old phone i didn't take delivery of the phone! The new phone i wanted is the galaxy note 2 at R439 a month. My previous contract is a blackberry 9800 which i was paying R339 for! I hope someone will fix this mess before the debit date
