Being charged R 4942.78 for a cellphone upgrade

I upgraded my Autopage cellphone contract in late December 2012. I received my phone in January 2013. I was never informed that any additional charges would be added to my account from the time the upgrade was processed to the time that I received my new phone. I never received any form of communication from Autopage that I had to pay in any extra charge. I received an sms on 20 February2013 that my account will be debited with a ridiculous amount of R4942.78 on 28 February 2013. This is the first time that I was informed of any additional charge. The phone is not even worth this amount bought cash. A consultant called me after I spent about an hour speaking to the Autopage head-office and having them reassure me that the manager will phone back. This consultant told me that by signing the delivery note (that had no amount on it) i legally bound myself to pay this absurd amount. When I then wanted to cancel the contract she said that i would have to pay the outstanding amount for the next 24 months. I find this ridiculous! they breach their contract every month! they charged me more than i agreed to and debit my account on different dates every month and now this!
