Sony Xperia Z Not so WaterProof

I recently upgraded my contract and got the Xperia Z.

It was working 100%, until one day I rinsed the phone as it was sticky and seeing it was water proof according to the tv ads

After rinsing it, the power and volume down button did not work properly, and the phone went into safe mode

I took the phone to the nearest MTN store to send back and see what happened to the phone. 7days later I get the phone back with a letter saying that it had moisture damaged and that the pink moisture detectors also where discolored showing according to them that one of the panels where not closed and the warranty was voided and nothing had been repaired

THis was really odd as the phone was supposed to be water resistant, I went and had a closer look at the phone, because I was 100% sure that the panels were closed

I checked the back of the phone and it looks like the back panel that is being held in place by a type of glue/sealant was loose on the one corner.

If the panel was not sealing properly that would have caused the water to have entered the phone and cause the problem!!

Seeing that the back panel can surely not be my fault it is there something we can do?
