SONY
Misleading advertising on Sonys part, and Vodacom

Electronics and household app.

In May 2013 I purchased a Sony Xperia Z from Vodashop Pavillion
The phone was immersed in water but with knowledge that the phone is water resistant and that all flaps should be closed, obviously the phone cannot have water damage as it is a specification by Sony themselves which was advertised on TV and by all Cellular Providers

I have been to the Vodacare in Durban, Unfortunately after an assessment they told me that the phone is water damaged.
Now how can a phone that is water resistant be water damaged?
Isn't that very misleading to the consumer and me as a customer?
With regard to misleading advertisements, I as a consumer have the right to contact the CPA, which I will be doing if my phone is not replaced. It's not like the handset was only R500.00 to say I can easily replace it and It is on contract so that means I am still paying for a phone that is water damaged that is water resistant!
I do understand that there is a procedure that has to be followed with regard to assessing the fault but I have waited at the walk in repair centre and they have informed about the water damage

Company: SONY
Country: South Africa
City: Kwa- Zulu Natal
