I have a Sony Xperia Z with MTN on a contract. I purchased THIS phone because of the "water-resistant" function. I do understand the phone is NOT water proof, however in user manual given, it indicates the phone may be in water for up to 30minutes, 1M deep. I also know that ports must be closed properly. So here's my complaint: I always make sure the ports are closed, in case an accident does happen. My phone dropped in the bath while I was texting. it was in the water for 5seconds max, and I immediately took it out and dried it. It was working for 3/4 days after, but then started getting faulty. My camera no longer works, the phone freezes and restarts, and auto rotation doesnt work. I took my phone to MTN repair centre, who told me to come collect the phone not repaired, as it has water damage and the warranty is null and void. The phone was checked for physical damages prior, there is damage by the headphones port. From the MTN water test, it showed that the water damage occured by the SIM port. there is no sign of damage there and i NEVER open that port. I dont see how i must be held responsible for this, as it could be a phone defect, the Power button is right next to this port!
