Vodacom
Unfair Business Policies

Telecommunications

The only reason I am putting this into public domain is because I have been advised to do so by ICASA prior to their stepping in.

I want to upgrade my contract, however, Vodacom refuse to carry forward my unused "free minutes" which, as we all know, are paid for a month in advance, hence the term "Post-Paid".

I spoke to a consultant, Gugu Tsangwen at Vodacom Business (082 1940) who, even after being told that she was on record went on to say that not carrying forward minutes is a Vodacom company policy. Their policy is to carry forward minutes of the previous month only and not the minutes of the months prior to that. I told her that this practice is wrong, to which she replied, "I'm not denying that but nobody can change that policy". I said to her that ICASA can make you change this policy to which she fired off - "they can't". I then reminded her that she is on record and asked her if she is saying that ICASA cannot make Vodacom change their policy regarding this matter to which she responded "I'm not saying that, I didn't say anything about ICASA". What a contradiction.

Usurping the PAID FOR minutes/data/SMS/talking points of subscribers are all unfair business practices.
