Waiting for upfgrade

I have had a contract with Mtn for 8 years. I am due for an upgrade which was confirmed via sms to be on 1 June this year. My Blackberry handset hasn't been working properly for some time but since they told me I could upgrade 1 June, I decided to wait. When I went to the Boksburg branch to upgrade I was told I could only upgrade 1 July. I told them that my handset wasn't working and I need it for work. They sent me to Mtn repair centre in North Rand rd, Boksburg who then gave me a refurbished Blackberry. It worked, for 2 days or so then gave the same problems as my previous handset. (switched off without warning, with a full battery etc)
I went in again today to the Boksburg branch, Mtn was offline, so I phoned later the afternoon to the call centre. I spoke to a lady there and she said my upgrade date is on 1 August. I also spoke to Joseph in Retention Department. They cannot give a reason that the upgrade date has changed again. They just say, it cannot be done
So while Mtn cant decide when I can upgrade and keep moving the date up, I am struggling with a phone that does not always work. I depend on my phone for communication with my work. I need some answers please
