Tirisano Cellular
Lack of support for Huawei devices in South Africa

Telecommunications

I bought an E589 wireless router in April this year (2013). This router is not sold in South Africa for some reason, so I had to buy it through Bid or Buy. The device worked very well but unfortunately one of the SIM connector pins broke when my SIM card got stuck in the SIM slot.

I phoned Huawei's Customer Service in South Africa who connected me with their Approved Service Center (Tirisano Cellular). I booked the device in with Tirisano Cellular for repairs and after a week of phoning them daily, I eventually got told that they cannot help me, for the following reasons: (1) They do not know how to open the device. (2) If they were able to open the device, they do not keep stock of any parts for this device.

I can understand that they do not keep stock of this device's specific parts since the device is not sold directly in South Africa, but I cannot understand why, as an Approved Service Center, they cannot even open the device, locate the broken SIM connector part and order it from Huawei.

If Huawei's Approved Service Center in the country cannot provide this service for a Huawei product, where does it leave me as a customer of Huawei?
