I needed a Blackberry with BES. Apparently I had to get a contract for this, so I got the smallest one I could for R49/month and added the BES to it. I did not need a handset as I already had one. I now no longer need this, as I have a company blackberry including contract.
I called 111 to cancel the contract. After 5 minutes and giving all my details etc, they told me to call another number for cancellations 082 1958. I called and again had to give all my details. However, this was handled well and I received an email with the form indicating I have to pay R300 odd to cancel. While I fully understand that if I had selected a handset on contract initiation, which was subsidised by the monthly payment, that I might be due for a pay in on premature cancellation, I cannot understand how it can be motivated that I still have liability as I didn't take a new handset.
I was referred to the account dept on 082 1946, but got no joy there again after having to give all my details again, as they are simply reading from a script. I am unhappy that Vodacom wants to charge me a fee to cancel, and cannot speak to someone who can make an informed decision.
