DAYLIGHT watch out for the fine print

Telecommunications

We recently signed on for a 24month data contract with a fastlink modem and 2.GB data per month.
When we signed on we were given reems of paperwork to initial (as is standard with these contracts) and being that there were people waiting, the consultant simply highlighted the important points so we didn't need to read all the fine print terms and conditions. Not once did said consultant point out that this was not a capped data deal.

As a result we have recently downloaded in excess of our monthly 2.GB and were charged R4000!!! When I went to enquire about this, as there was no way we had downloaded that much, I was then informed that the data bundle was not capped AND they also charged R2 per KILObyte downloaded.

Now I have heard of being charged R2 per megabyte. This, while expensive, seems the norm.but R2 per KILOBYTE? That means that we downloaded a mere 2 mb more than our monthly allowance and have been slapped with a R4000 bill!
I have tried contesting it, but they say this is the contract terms!

I am leaving MTN ASAP and I suggest you all consider it carefully before signing on. This is exploitation of customers at the fullest!
