TRYING TO PORT NUMBER DUE TO BAD CELL C SIGNAL

I have a Cell-C number - where the contract period has come to and end in February 2013. My daughter uses this mobile to WITS University and the Cell-C signal at campus is virtually non functional. We have been trying to port this number to another provider for the last week and hey giving me the run-around. All documentation was submitted to the Trade Route Branch at Lenasia and they indicated to my wife that this is all they need to have the number ported... Now I have received an sms stating that the port application is not succesfull and that I should contact the service provider. I called the call centre and they say that the process has not been followed correctly an that the line first needs to be cancelled with retention department etc... then port application... it seems like the staff at Lenasia or Cell C call centre do not have the same procedure in place and this is very frustrating...
