Cell C Number Port Epic Fail

I am pretty fed up with Cell C.
I have recently taken out a contract with them and asked for my old number to be ported to Cell C. I was advised in store that this would be done within 48 hours. Its two weeks later, my Cell C simcard was disconnected and still no port. I called the call centre, who ended up referring me back to the store.
In store i still recieved no help and was told that I would have to contact my old service provider whos system is offline, to inform me when they are back online then contact Cell C and inofrm them that they can port my number.
How is it that the so called 'service' Cell C is meant to provide is now my responsibility?
I am sitting with a phone that I cannot use and have no idea when that will change, yet I must pay for services?
totally appalled!
