Retentions - Really???

The meaning of Retentions is to keep your Customer especially if its possible. I am due for Upgrade on 01/06/2013 and my old phone broke last week. I have asked MTN Retentions if any way possible i can upgrade early but they declined it for 9 days!!! Seriously, this is about the 3rd or 4th upgrade and you can not upgrade me 9 days early. So if you do not have the faith in me why should i have the faith in you and stay with your Network??? Really shocking that they could not pass this upgrade considering the circumstances :(
