Forced to upgrade package to upgrade early

My son's phone was in November 2012 (upgrade due in January 2013) and when I called the call centre to enquire about an early upgrade they confirmed it could be done without issues or terms, so we upgraded to a new phone on the same package. So when my phone was in January 2013 I called again to upgrade early (upgrade due April 2013), this time they refused to do it as I need to spend R800 a month on my contract to qualify for an early upgrade, none of which was told to me when I did a similar upgrade in January. Due to the fact that I needed a phone, I was forced to upgrade to a talk 500 package which now costs me double!!! I've been a vodacom client for many, many years & I've never needed to upgrade early or given them any trouble with paying my accounts & this is the treatment clients get! I've got 3 contracts with them & now I'm considering porting to a different network that will cost me less & give me less drama! Why should I be forced to change my package with terms to upgrade earlier if I wasn't given ANY terms on another early upgrade less than 3 months later!!! Vodacom is pathetic!!
