Don't the people know what is required?

Telecommunications

I went into the Vodacom store in Greenstone Mall on Sunday to upgrade my wife's phone. She has Blackberry and prefers to stay with that, so I saw the Q10 on a special Smartcall S contract (she's on a Top Up). I'm told by the agent (very helpful) that I need to take out a new contract to replace the Top Up to get the Q10. Not a problem, it looks like a good deal so I fill in all the details. The special deal has a pair of headphones that comes with the deal. When I enquired about that, I'm told that it is only for new contracts., this IS a new contract - previous one was a Top Up! Also, nowhere is the brochure does it state that it is for new contracts only!

To add to the frustration, I specifically asked whether the new Q10 needs one of the microSIM's and was told that the normal SIM would be OK. Lo and behold, when I got home I discovered that it does indeed need the new microSIM! Now I have to go back for a SIM-swap that will also probably be charged for!

Vodacom, your staff may be helpful (in my case), but they need to be educated!
