I bought a Viper 4 Supernova hydration pack (I specifically wanted last year's model for its unique features) from a retailer on Tuesday.

An hour after purchase, I discovered that the stitching on one of the elastic loops that holds the reservoir tube had come unstuck.

I went online to the Osprey website, and saw they offer a lifetime guarantee - any product, any reason, any era (yeah, right! I've heard that promise before...)

So I tracked down the South African agency, and left a comment on their webpage. Within an hour, the agency owner Leo Rust of Adventure Inc contacted me. He had taken over the agency a few months back, and promised to back up the guarantee.

The chances of finding an exact replacement were remote, especially because it was an older model pack, and given that I was very specific about what I wanted in the model and colour.

2 days later he had sourced the exact hydration pack, and personally delivered the new pack to my residence, just in time for my weekend outing on Table Mountain.

Unbelievable...
