Bad Service (and system) for exchanges

I needed to return a jeans that i had bought. I handed the packet to the security at the door, as requested. I went into the store and decided to get a pair of shoes in exchange for the jeans, instead of returning it. After having waited at the queue at the cashiers, the cashier informs me that their system (for exchanges and account purchases) is offline and that i would have to come back on a different day. She also asked a few of the other cashiers who all confirmed that it was offline. There were no notices that had been put up informing the customers of this problem. (While I was aking the cashier if there was any other way to exchange the item today, a customer came to the till next to me and paid on their account.) After I had said this is very poor service, the cashier then says that she will try the system. The cashier then started looking for my packet, asking all the staff in the store if they had seen it, very loudly. (this seems like a silly system) This went on for about 15 minutes. The packet was eventually found under some hangers and other items at the tills. The cashier then tried to do the exchange and it worked (contrary to what I had been told earlier).
