Pick 'n Pay
Beware when swiping your card

Shops, Products, Services

On Wednesday my mom (78) went to PnP to do a bit of shopping. Reached the till point. Cashier asked if she needed a packet to which my mom replied "no thank you" as she had her wheelie basket. Cashier swiped Mom's SASSA card. When my mom got home she checked her till slip to check the prices of the goods. Sees below that she had been charged for a plastic packet and that R100 cash was added to the transaction! Her groceries came to R147 and total amount drawn from her card R247!! She immediately phoned the store. The line was bad so they phoned her back. She told them what had happened and suggested that they do a spot check on the cashier. She was R100 over. I took my mom up to the store that evening to get her money back. She was taken to the cashier in question to get her money back and for the cost of the packet. There was NO apology from the cashier at all. I mean R100 is a lot of money for a pensioner. Mom worked for PnP many years ago at head office in Westville. I wonder if the cashier was disciplined in any kind of way? I wonder how many other pensioners/people have been caught like this?
