Service provided was disgusting

I wanted to redeem my Smart shopper points and found that the machine could not read my card after several attempts. I then went to the cashier and informed her of what I wanted to do but to my surprise she was then rude and said if the machine is not working it's not her problem and she cannot do anything about it as I cannot redeem over the counter. I asked her if that's how she should speak to customers and mentioned that it's not good customer service and she clearly said I do not know what customer service is. Clearly she doesn't know that educating the customer is part of customer service and as someone working in a customer facing environment this needs serious intervention. I'm not happy at all with the service I was given by Nhlanhla and demand an apology from her. I await a response and wish to know what you going to do to try and prevent such from happening again. Had she politely informed me that she can't assist over the counter and apologized for the inconvenience then I would have been satisfied...
