I was given a Zara top as a gift. It was one size too large so I took the top - in perfect condition - all shop tags attached - to the store in Sandton City. I asked a salesperson if I could exchange it for a smaller size. I was told that, as I did not have a receipt or a 'gift' receipt, she could not help me. I explained that I am a teacher and was given the top by a Matric student who has subsequently gone overseas and so I have no way of getting a receipt. I was told that she could do nothing. I asked to speak to the manager who confirmed this. I explained the circumstances and was told that there is nothing I can do. The manager offered to give me the number to phone customer services but also confirmed that customer services could not help me. So I have a top which does not fit me and which I cannot exchange. This is shocking customer relationship management and attests to the arrogance of stores such as this. I shall NEVER shop there again and will spread the word about their attitude and protocol.
