Size does matte

I recently celebrated a birthday. Many of my presents was clothing. One particular present was a smart shirt. The shirt was bought from a Uzzi Store. Unfortunately it was a medium and not a large. The tag was still on the shirt and it was clearly branded with the Uzzi tag. I asked my wife to please exchange the shirt for a large. She went to the Gateway store and Pavillion store. Both stores refused to allow the exchange as there was no receipt. She explained it was a gift however the staff refused to compromise. Surely Uzzi should make allowance for gift exchange? I feel too embarrassed to ask the person who gave me the gift for the receipt. Truworths on the other hand gives an extra receipt without the price for this very reason. If Uzzi is a Truworths brand then why not practice the same thing? Please, please try understand my plight!
