SMART SHOPPER CARD!!!

I purchased a Phillips airfryer from the Ottery store. I did not have my smart shopper card with me. Previously this has never been a problem but when I made this big purchase, I was denied the points because suddenly PnP was no longer accepting the number off my cellphone. All along, i would give my number which was stored on my phone to the cashier and no problem. The one day I make an almost R2000 purchase I get over. The cashier told me that the store was no longer accepting the card number in this manner. So, imagine my surprise when I went to the store yesterday and the lady in front of me had forgotten her card and the cashier asked her if she had the card number stored on her phone as they could use it this way! So why is it now allowed?!!?!?! THIS IS A!!!
