On Friday the 12th of April 2013, I purchased a sewing machine for my mother in law at Makro Silver Lakes. This unit was then taken to her 200 km away.
When commissioning the unit, the LCD display and foot pedal were faulty.
My in laws returned the unit to the same branch (200 km later) on the 2nd of June 2013 for an exchange.
When handing in the unit at the returns counter, I was informed that they have a 14 day exchange policy and therefore it must be sent to the supplier for assessment before a decision is taken. When informed of this, I requested that the employee and department manager read their policy on the wall carefully as they do not understand it themselves? The policy on the wall clearly indicates that appliances, computers and sporting equipment are exempt from this 14 day policy.
After a long argument, I left the unit there to be sent away to Empisal and have returned twice to find out what is happening. On both occasions I have had to argue with staff/manager again as nothing has happened and they are R3000 richer. This is ridiculous, in future shop for appliances at Game instead as they don't run away from there problems. I am so livid I just want my money back!!!
