On 13 01 2013 I bought 2 Ryobi chain saws from Makro Silver Lakes (Invoice 800). The equipment had a one year guarantee.
Op 17 02 2013 I returned the first unit to Makro for repairs (Repair note 2131755).
I was then phoned by Makro and informed that the unit is not repairable as a result of normal wear and tear and that they are therefore not prepared to honour the guarantee. What is interesting is about this is that this unit was in use for only two days and physically worked for less than 16 hours.
Two questions now arises from this, firstly is Ryobi products of unacceptable quality (as Makro implies), and/or secondly, why does Makro sell such products and then refuses to comply with the guarantees as advertised and indicated on the products they sold?
Whatever the case might be, consumers should be aware of what they buy, and even more, where they buy.
