Throwing away food

Good day,

I was shocked in finding out that Pick n Pay stores trash all their pastries that are past their "sell by date". I am well aware that Woolworths make their "past sell by date" items available to their employees and restaurants.

I would urge Pick n Pay to rather donate the items to soup kitchens etc. (there is one just around the corner from the Somerset West Pick n Pay). It was sad to see the trolley stacked with cookies and treats that would have been such a blessing to a homeless person but was destined for the trash can.
