Is it my duty to check barcodes?

Hi i was at Vangate mall Friday Night, i was going to buy 10 Boost energy drinks which had a barcode of R3.99 when i got to the till it was R8.99 and the cashier told me that i must look at the barcode on the shelf yet it was packed full ontop of the barcode she did not even call a supervisor she just told me its the wrong barcode i am so unhappy, my husband took a photo of the shelf where the barcode was. she discarded the barcode, my question is It my duty to check Barcodes?
I would like this to be resolved as i am so upset somebody did not do their job properly by taking old barcodes off as well as if it was a different barcode to put a NO STock sign the description on barcodes matched the product it was numbers that did not match proberbly as i still told my husband that it is very cheap we should take 10.
Please sort this out asap
