Pick 'n Pay
Scan Rite Barcode Policy

Shops, Products, Services

I am appalled at how Pick n Pay (Hyde Park, Killarney, Norwood and Rosebank) all overcharge on several products per trolley load every time I shop there. R118.00 overcharged at Rosebank alone. If this is what they are doing with every customer they must be making a fortune.

I called the matter to the attention of the manager in Norwood this evening and as I was standing directly underneath the Scan Rite policy sign... he told me that policy only applies to shelf prices that are not the same as barcodes. When I showed him the price on the shelf (large red and white sign) which was R8.00 cheaper than the barcode that I had been charged, he said that it was a "flush" price not a shelf price and he refused to honour the Scan Rite policy.

Does Pick n Pay have a loophole for every occasion to not treat their customers fairly or honour their promises? How can a price largely displaying on the SHELF not be a shelf price?

It is not for the customer to have to stand like a hawk over the till watching every item being scanned but due to the constant incorrect pricing (always in favour of the store!) I find myself having to do this.
