Pick 'n Pay
Misleading Pricing

Shops, Products, Services

On 13th March 2013 at 17:40pm I went to the Randburg Bright water Commons Pick 'n Pay bottle store.

I was looking for champagne, I saw a bottle with yellow covering and I thought it would be the perfect gift since it was already wrapped, there was more than 10 items on the shelf with a R69.99 price tag, so I headed over to the pay till, to my surprise Nomsa the cashier says to me that the price of the item is R299, so im like well Nomsa the price tag on the shelf is R69.99 and we headed over to the shelf for me to show her.

She called the manager.

The guy was dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans with sneakers, no name badge and not the friendliest of approach. He said to me that i must buy the item with the price on the till and I must read/match the full barcode of what ever product i buy to see the proper price "Its pick 'n pay POLICY"

So if thats the policy, why not display that all over the shop?
Why not send out marketing material explaining the policy?
why get angry when customers read only the price of items and not the barcode?

what other pricing are they misleading us with?

I didnt know I had to have a bsc in tag reading to buy at pick n pay.

Very Disappointing...
