MTN subscription converted to a contract

I am an account holder with Jet stores (edcon). I registered for a R50 MTN discount subscription on November 2012. I later requested a port-to-us with 8.ta where i subsequently de-registered for the subscription from various Jet stores around Gauteng (Benoni, Vosloorus, Pretoria (Sunny park and Menlyn)). Till today I am still waiting for that cancellation while I Accumulate costs on my account and costs already incurred from various phone calls I have also made from my cell phone. Apparently they have also tried to contact me but on all occasions they failed to reach me and I guess they have failed to reach my cousin as well since they always ask for an alternative number.

Another issue I have encountered with Jet OTA services is the airtime I never received that I bought last year 28 December 2012. I probably spent more than the value of the airtime bought in trying to obtain that airtime.
I made a call again on Tuesday (30 April 2013) where i was told I will subsequently receive a call for the cancellation.
My question herein becomes: why is it easy to subscribe to services that generate income for jet but difficult to unsubscribe? why must I be called to unsubscribe?
