No response afte request for contract cancellation

I have requested to cancell the contract i have with ADT secrurity as i am no longer able to afford and called their call center number on the 2nd of january 2013 and i was requested to write an email to two email addresses given stating my request, no response was forth coming despite the promise from a ticket number which indicated that i will get a person to contact me within 24hrs, on the 9th january i resend the email requesting feedback and still none came through.
I am not sure whether i am deliberately being ignored or is it just a very bad service by ADT security company.
