Poor armed Responds Time

My house was broken in on the 16 June 2013 at about 5pm. From the time the alarm went off and ADT to respond to my house was about 20 minutes.By that time the house was run sacked and items.
My issue is, if my family and I was at home during the burgulary, we could have been harmed, or mudered during this 20 minute period. I am seriosly asking myself why to I pay for ths inferior service because I don't think ADT can protect my home or my family.
