Why do you need my helmet

I arrived at the N1 city customer service centre on my motorcycle an hour ago to pay my subscription fees and reconnect to my DSTV package. I took my helmet off before entering as is courtious, and was greeted at the counter and asked to wait for my number to be called.
After standing for a minute waiting, i was approached by an employee and asked to check in the helmet I was carrying. When asked why, I was presented with the usual: "it's policy sir...".
This policy is ludicrous. Any biker will tell you that his/her helmet is part of their personal gear. It is not to be handled or taken lightly. Mine, as an example, is a R6000 piece of gear. I would sooner part with my shorts than hand it over to a stranger for safekeeping.
Congratulations DSTV. You have lost a customer. I do not need to be treated like a child/criminal/employee while visiting your service centre.
Do not call me or offer an explanation. I am not interested and will not be interested in your products and services in the future. Corporate rules belong in corporate offices, not in the same space as your customers. I would certainly never treat my customers with this much disrespect!
