While on holiday over the September long weekend I called Multichoice Port Elizabeth to activate my extra smartcard. The consultant told me after trying many things that my card doesn't work. In October when I looked at my bank account I saw multichoice deducted twice the subscription fee from my account. I came to know about this because I suddenly saw that I couldn't honor one of my debit orders. I also then saw that multichoice billed me a pro-rated amount for the previous month. I logged a call back request on their website and one of their consultants called me back and admitted to this being there mistake. This was on the 10th of October already. Now I want to know why I still haven't received my money. When I called Multichoice on the 21st of October the consultant told me that they have not even looked at my statement yet. What gives Multichoice the right to overbill me and then behave as if it's their money to pay back when they see fit? I am requesting a legal opinion on this and will claim interest on these overcharged amounts. Just wanted to let others know, don't sign the debit order, rather pay yourself. I am stopping the debit order as soon as I can get to the bank!
