Just Letting
Breach of Contract, Withholding Deposit

I gave up a job in Cape Town to take up a job here in Jhb, but after 5 months had to take the Employer to the CCMA via Retrenchment Assist, who also short paid me. I then lost my job and went to Just Letting with all the paperwork etc and told them I needed to give up my lease after 8 months - I could pay December and January. I also never missed any rental, electricity etc payments. However, when I moved in the carpets were still dirty and the previous tenant had left nails and holes in the wall. I removed these, filled with polyfilla and tried as best to clean the carpets that had been damaged by flood. I have pictures of before and after cleaning by a professional carpet company and well as signed documents. The landlord tried to claim these as my expenses and Just Letting did not refund my deposit by the 7th as per Lease, nor by the 21st as per lease, but sided with the landlord and have still to date not repaid my deposit, but wants to short pay me into the bargain. Just Letting were covered by Insurance against my losing my job and managed to rent out the unit to possibly 3 people (met them all) for R600 more than I had paid. I am 68 years old
