Traffic Department
Car registration documents

Politics & Government

Hello Peter, here is the issue, I bought a car about two years ago, it was not in good condition. Currently am done fixing it and its ready to be on the road again. Contacted the guy that sold the car to me to get car documents, he also didn't have the document, then we went to the person that sold him the car. We got there address of the previous owner they were no longer staying there, there is someone else. We decided to go to traffic department in George we explain the situation and the told us that this car was scratched and its in the scrap yard according to the system because the owner passed away. I went to the scrap yard they referred me to, to get the letter. They charged me round about R700 for the letter, went back to traffic department they told me to check car information in Dalieon Company, they confirmed that its correct. They changed the ownership of the car to me and said I must pay R1700 for car disc. When I went the to pay they told me to bring death Certificate for Mr Marlins the previous owner. According to Home Affairs the person died around 1981, and since am not a relative I can't get death Certificate that they need. Please help me to get these documents
