I've been to the UIF offices in Brakpan 4 times (including today) to sign for 1st payout as per arrangement; I was send back again as apparently my claim has not been approved by Head Office as yet; I was told to come back again on the 7th of July but to phone the office in 2 weeks time. I do not understand why it takes such a long time to get a claim approved; I have waited 5 weeks but now I have to wait another 5 weeks for MY money. I've paid UIF contributions for a situation like this when I find myself without a job; I now have to spend money that I do not have since I am unemployed to go back and forth and on phone calls. Staff members are VERY unhelpful, slow and walk in and out to buy food, go on lunch without anybody replacing them to assist; arrive at work way after 08:00 etc.

The service level is to say the least shocking; public members arrive early, wait patiently for hours on end as there is only one person "assisting" new applicants and one person "assisting" people who came to sign;
We the public have the RIGHT to decent and satisfactory service; I also phoned the Head Office this morning only but 4 times but without success since the calls were never answered.
