Charging more than SIX times the Medical Aid rate

I went to this periodontist who did skin graphs on my gums. The procedure was done in his consulting rooms not in hospital - so no authorization was obtained from Discovery Medical Aid. I was given a "quote" and had to pay R20 000-00 out of the R25 000-00 up front before the procedure. The medical aid refunded around R8 000-00, which was 125% of the recommended fee for this procedure. This periodontist charged SIX times more than the Medical Aid rate!!!
I was sedated for over 5 hours, the bill for the anesthetist was more than R10 000-00, of which I refunded around R3 000-00 from the Medical aid.
I tried to reason with this man and offered to pay him double, triple even - BUT, NOT ------ SIX times the rate - this is just thieving! I am having to pay small amounts every month as I have no savings left and cannot afford to pay a lump sum. VERY high charges!
