When assessing my husband's tax return SARS picked up a discrepancy in the tax cert. The tax act allows us to claim all med.expenses, but when our accountant submitted the form, SARS queried a claim for R12361.47 reflected on the tax sheet as Mems resp.pay. That amount was not paid by us - The amount claimed for that item is reflected as R14384.69. For several weeks I have tried to get the matter sorted. On the 13.1.2014, I eventually received an email stating (ref. 19601405) that an amount of R12296.43 was paid for a Foratec inhaler on 13.03.2013. Both the amount and the date are impossible. The chemist closed
at the end of March 2012 and the date on the cert is 13.03.2012.I phoned again, and was told I bought 120 inhalers! This is an S4 item and I'm allowed 1 per month. I would like a correct cert issued - Pr 6009417 is attempting to resolve the matter with you but were told by the person they spoke to that they 'would try'. Hardly promising! While I know that your operators are not holders are not PhDs - I expect courtesy, and I resent the fact that the first male operator put the phone down when I said, heatedly, that I required an explanation for that ridiculous mail!
