Failure to inform wrt non payment by medical aid

? was referred to Dr Eksteen by my GP because i was suffering from back pain. I visited Dr Eksteen a couple of times and he suggested that he perform a procedure on me to decrease/numb the pain. The medical aid (GEMS) was contacted and approval was granted. Months after procedure was done Dr Eksteen's office phoned me toask when am i paying and I didn't know that it was not paid. I contacted my medical aid to ask why they didn't pay and they said that the Dr knew that they domnot pay him and that I was supposed to be informed prior to that so that i could acquire the funds if i couldn' t afford it of seek help from ano0ther Dr who they would pay beforehand. I have also received a letter from a lawyer that states that i should pay them as well for legal fees on tir behalve. I have tried to contact both the kawyer and Dr Eksteen's office by mail but no one replies to my messages and previously mynmessages was replied on before the procedure.
