In April 2013 I had to have a disc replacement surgery in my neck as my disc had ruptured and was lying on my nerve causing excruciating pain in my arm, I went to flora emergency and from there I was admitted - I required surgery - the hospital as well as my husband contacted discovery for authorization - which was given - now discovery is saying that they did not authorize the procedure (the code and procedure are different) and required a motivation letter from the neurologist, which he duly did - authorization is still decline - I would like to point out that in the confirmation email we received it just states that a code for a procedure has been authorized - nowhere on that email does it actually state the procedure - just the code? I am still not 100% how the patient is supposed to check that the "code" is correct especially when you have to be sedated to under go a MRI because the pain was so excruciating. what's the point of paying your monthly contributions when you really need your medical aid and they decline payment. I was then plague by calls requesting payment which did not help my recovery.
