Given Authorisation No but now won't pay

Went to a Gastrologist who said I should have a scope done. I decided to have it done after the New Year. The day after New Year, I became very ill & my Gastrologist wanted to book me in but St Augstines, Durban did not have a bed available and they had a long waiting list. They were even battling to find a bed for an old lady who was very ill. My Dr gave me some medicine & booked me for the scope the following day. I did all my paper work at the pre-admission counter in St Augstines & obtained an authorisation no from Discovery Health. I was told that the op had been authorised. I was told to pay in an amt of R2 985. I went ahead with the procedure thinking that I am covered. I have received all my bills because Discovery Health are not paying as I did not stay overnight in hospital. I spoke to several consultants and was told that I should have got my Dr to admit me into hospital for 1 night so medical aid would pay. Isn't this disgusting that Discovery Health would rather pay extra money for you to stay overnight when you don't need it than pay for the op. No wonder our hospitals are overflowing with people, hospital staff overworked and medical aid costs high!!!
