Swimming pool area-smoking area

I am booked with family at sabie riversun for 5nights thinking my kids will enjoy swimming and the fun activities. My bubble burst whilst relaxing at the pool when I realise people smoking at the pool area. I was shocked when we raise our concern, the manager confirmed the swimming pool area is a smoking area. How is that possible? This is where kids are swimming, kids activities are taking place in this area and food and refreshments are served. Should I have known about this in consideration of kids and pregnant women I would nt have booked at this resort.
