Resolution Health Medical Scheme
Lack of treatment of chronic condition

Health & Medicine

I have a rare condition called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), similar to multiple sclerosis, and have since 2010 received polygam, which was later changed to octogam in 2012, for treatment of my condition (which was covered by Nimas/Resolution Health). Please refer to the CIDP Foundation International website for more information regarding this condition [URL Removed] .

Nimas/Resolution Health has always covered the cost of this treatment which prevents my condition from worsening. However, I have been informed that Resolution Health no longer deems Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) as a chronic condition. My neurologist, Dr M Britz, has written a letter motivating and explaining the importance of octogam in the treatment of my condition, but apparently this has been rejected.

Therefore, I hereby request an explanation for the discontinuation (after 3 years of cover) of treatment for my rare, chronic condition. Due to the rareness of CIDP, I realise that it is not necessarily recorded in lists of chronic conditions, but I hereby request that Resolution Health reconsider this omission.
