I am currently in my self- payment GAP and required a number of tests to be done. My doctor requested for me to di these tests on Friday 30 August. She indicated that some of the test must be done while fasting so I could not go and do these tests immediately. I therefore went to PTA East hospital on 31 August 07.00 to have these tests done, as I use to do in 2011 and 2012. Discovery is refusing to payment. Anja (a manager) called me and i asked her "which of your service providers would have been able to accommodate me first thing on a Saturday morning? " She said that discovery does not care if none of the Clicks/dischem/pnp can assist me with a fasting blood test first thing on a Saturday morning. It is my problem and I need to pay the R3000 account. She also said that it is not up to discovery to answer this question and that it is my problem to find out. She said to me if there are any special circumstances that prohibit me from using these providers i.e. it being urgent or fasting that discovery does not care and that I will need to foot that bill myself.
How can you have such an attitude towards your customers? do compassion, no understanding, no caring
