I've had to have a procedure done by a Maxillo-Facial surgeon. The doctor gave me a quote for all the work to be done - the entire procedure would cost R7 875. I submitted this quote to Discovery to see how much of the claim would be paid. I received a response advising everthing would be covered apart from a small difference of about R200 - I have this in writing. Based on this, I borrowed money in full confidence that the procedure would be covered in full. I had the procedure done and submitted the claim to Discovery. Received a statement and there was a shortfall in my refund of R2 231. I called to query this and was advised that the person who signed off on the quote made a mistake. I was assured that this was a human error on Discovery's part and I would probably be refunded the whole amount but the query had to go to QA which meets every Wednesday. Wednesday came, no response. Called call centre again on Friday, explained the whole story again to another agent and was advised that I should have a response latest this Monday. Nothing. Called again, different agent, different story - QA meets every Thursday, expect a response early next week? Shocking, just shocking service.
